Franklin College’s physical education department is built upon a strong liberal arts base. It is an outgrowth of the liberal arts structure of the college which provides depth of content knowledge via the rich and rigorous liberal arts curriculum. We prepare teachers to become competent, caring, decision makers in the classroom and gymnasiums. It is a field-based program where students receive supportive, hands-on, real-world training to become a future teaching professional. Students engage in extensive field experiences beginning in the Winter Term of their sophomore year and continue through their final student teaching semester prior to graduation. Our students are trained with the most up-to-date and current research regarding pedagogy, assessment, and technology. At Franklin College, a student can become licensed to teach K-12 physical education and health.
