IHE Scholarships & Programs
Students who complete all three required components of the program – completion of co-curricular requirements; presentation of a research paper at a public symposium; receipt of a minimum grade of “B” in the spring seminar – will be invited to apply for scholarship funds which they can use at any time before their last semester at Franklin College to participate in selected study away programs. Follow the links below for more information on the scholarship application process and for a list of approved study-away programs.
Scholarships
Applications for study abroad scholarships from IHE students are due by 4 p.m. on March 1 for the following academic year (fall, spring and summer). Applications must be submitted to the VPAA office. Please keep in mind that you must complete your study abroad experience before Christmas of your senior year and that you must satisfy the following requirements in order to be eligible for scholarship funds:
- Complete co-curricular requirements
- Present a research paper at a public symposium
- Receive a minimum grade of “B” in the spring seminar
In order to apply for IHE scholarships, you must submit a completed application form as well as the essay requested on the application form. If you are interested in a domestic program (i.e. the Indianapolis Peace House or Washington Internship Institute), please be sure to explain how this program will provide you with an intercultural experience.
Please be advised that scholarship funds are to be used for a fall or spring semester abroad. If you are unable to leave campus for a semester and would like to use the scholarship funds over the summer, for a program that lasts a minimum of 10 weeks, please justify your decision. Only academic reasons will be considered (for instance unavoidable course conflicts) so please include your academic advisor's name so that we may consult with him or her. Students receiving IHE scholarship funds must complete at least one semester at Franklin College after returning from their semester away.
