Dual Achievement
As a true educational partner within the Johnson County community, we understand the important role that Franklin College has in promoting and helping to increase the level of academic rigor for today’s youth. We established our Dual Achievement Program specifically to serve academically curious students who want to take on the challenge of college-level courses. Franklin College remains committed to a high level of excellence, leadership and service for all our academic programs.
Program Overview
The Dual Achievement program is currently extended to students enrolled at Franklin Community, Center Grove, Whiteland Community, Shelbyville and New Palestine High Schools as well as home schooled students in those areas. The Dual Achievement Program offers two unique options for these students:
Dual Enrollment courses offered at partner high schools and
Running Start courses offered on the Franklin College campus.
The Benefits
When high school students take a Dual Enrollment and/or a Running Start course, they pay less tuition costs than they would for a college course taken after high school graduation. The students tackle challenging content and are evaluated through rigorous assessments. Familiar teachers at your high school or Franklin College professors who teach the courses are available to help you meet these challenges. As you gain a better understanding of college level courses, your high school courses may be perceived as more relevant to your educational future. Of course, it is fun to be 16, 17 or 18 years old and be able to call yourself a “real” college student, which you will be. In fact, you will have a Franklin College identification card and receive all the benefits associated with the status represented by such a card including:
- Use of the Franklin College Library
Students enrolled in these programs are considered Franklin College students. Thus, all students have access to the library’s licensed and contracted materials. The library can be accessed from off-campus at www.franklincollege.edu/libweb/. Students will need to have their Franklin College ID for these services.
- Academic Support Services
Students have access to the Academic Resource Center (ARC), located on the third floor of the Hamilton Library. The ARC offers a broad range of services to help students with academic issues. The following services are offered: Academic Mentoring, Peer Tutoring, Math Study Center, The Write Place, and Academic Technology Services.
- Activities/Programs/Events/Athletics
By using your student ID, you will have access to a host of activities, programs, events and athletics. All of these are listed on the college’s online master calendar.
