When, where and what time will the Commencement ceremony take place?
The 2018 Commencement ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19 in the Franklin College Spurlock Center.
How long should I expect for the ceremony to take?
On average, the commencement ceremony will last two hours.
Do I need a ticket to attend the ceremony?
Yes, a ticket is required to attend the commencement ceremony. Eight tickets are distributed to graduates to be used at their discretion.
Are extra tickets available for family and friends?
In order to ensure adequate seating for family members and significant guests of all graduates at the commencement ceremony, tickets are issued directly to graduates, to be used at their discretion. Eight tickets are distributed to each graduate at Destination Graduation or in the Provost’s office; no additional tickets will be distributed to graduates.
Are children required to have a ticket?
Yes, children that will not be held (utilizing a seat or bleacher space) will require a ticket. We respectfully ask that all children are accompanied by an adult during the entire commencement ceremony.
Is there accessible seating available in Spurlock Center?
Yes, accessible seating is available in two locations inside the Spurlock Center. Friends and family members making use of accessible seating must also have a commencement ticket. There is open accessible seating on the balcony of the Spurlock Center; guests may use the elevator in the west hall. And, there is reserved accessible seating on the floor of the Spurlock Center. Graduates must reserve this space for a family member or friend and may do so via email to Jleeth@franklincollege.edu.
Should we hold our applause and cheers until the end of the Commencement ceremony?
Yes, we thank you in advance for respectfully holding your applause and cheers during the ceremony, so that each graduate’s name may be recognized and heard around the Spurlock Center.
When, where and what time will the Baccalaureate service take place?
The 2018 Baccalaureate service will be held in the Spurlock Center on Friday, May 18 at 4:30 p.m. This service does not require a ticket and is not mandatory for graduates. There is a complimentary reception for graduates and guests, immediately following the service. It will be held in the Napolitan Student Center Atrium.
