Kirk Bixler became director of career services at Franklin College in 2000. He holds a bachelor's degree from Earlham College and a master's degree in college student personnel administration from Ball State University. His work in the field of student affairs began in 1991.

Bixler is faculty secretary for the Franklin College chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honorary, and previously was an adviser for New STeP, a program that helps freshmen make the transition to college life and succeed academically. In addition, Bixler is a member of the College Career Center Consortium and serves as the chair of Accounting Interview Day and co-chair of Teacher Candidate Interview Day. He is on the board of directors for the Career Development Professionals of Indiana and serves as treasurer.

Bixler volunteers in the Johnson County community through his service on the board and as chair of the properties committee of Franklin Heritage, an historic preservation society. On many weekends, he volunteers at the ticket window of the historic Artcraft Theatre in downtown Franklin.
