Originally from Canada, Dr. Pilon earned a bachelor's degree with honors in French literature from the University of British Columbia, master's degree in French literature from McGill University and a doctorate in Québécois literature from Université Laval. Pilon's area of expertise is 19th-Century French-Canadian literature, 20th-Century Québécoise authors and pseudonym theory. Pilon has published articles on the use of pseudonyms in the 19th-Century French-Canadian press, has an anthology of essays by women in production with the Editions Nota Bene and serves as a book reviewer for the British Journal of Canadian Studies.
Pilon studied abroad in Germany and has taught American students studying in Austria. She also has organized and led student trips to Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Morocco, Norway, Sweden and Tunisia. Pilon previously served on the board of the Alliance Française of Indianapolis and is currently treasurer for the Indiana Consortium for International Programs.
In addition to teaching a variety of French language and literature classes at Franklin College, Pilon oversees the study-abroad programs as well as the Intercultural Honors Experience. Pilon organizes a variety of activities on campus including a monthly international film series, a brown-bag discussion series on travel and an intercultural book club.
