Kathy Carlson has taught at Franklin College since 1979. She completed a B.A. at Wheaton College in 1970 and an M.A. at Northern Illinois University in 1980. She has also studied at Indiana University.
Currently, she teaches American literature from the Colonial Period to World War I, Chaucer Seminar, Introduction to Literary Studies and LA 101 & 201. She taught ART 300, Watercolor Methods, and studies painting with Professor David Cunningham in Franklin's Fine Arts department. Her art studies have led her to work on illustrating a children's book that she has written.
She and her husband, Dr. David Carlson, have led six trips to Italy during Winter Term. With Dr. Sara Colburn-Alsop, she has traveled with students to Guadalajara for the Spanish immersion trip during Winter Term.
