Mrs. Prather earned a B.A. degree from DePauw University in elementary education with endorsements in language arts and social studies and a minor in business administration. She received a M.S. degree from Purdue University in elementary education. Mrs. Prather joined Franklin College after a 14-year career in public education during which she was a cooperating teacher for two colleges. In addition to serving as Director of Elementary Teacher Education, she teaches Literacy Methods and coordinates the elementary field program.
Mrs. Prather holds professional memberships in the Indiana Reading Professors, Indiana Reading Association, International Reading Association, and the Association for the Education of Young Children. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Mrs. Prather has served on the editorial board of the Indiana Reading Journal, the advisory board of Franklin's Eastside Preschool, and advisory committees for the Franklin Community School Corporation. She is a member of the school commission of St. Rose Catholic School in Franklin. In her free time, Mrs. Prather enjoys traveling and volunteering at her children's school.
