Lightning Suspected as Cause of Napolitan Alumni House Fire

On July 29, 2010, at about 2 a.m., there was a small fire at the historic Franklin College Napolitan Alumni House.

Franklin College Athletic Fields to be Called "Grizzly Park"

Franklin College's new athletic fields will be known as "Grizzly Park," in keeping with the wishes of a major donor to the project. Grizzly Park will encompass a new softball field, new tennis courts, a new facility for track and field events, the existing baseball field, practice fields and new fitness trails for runners and walkers. Construction has begun on the east side of campus, with Grizzly Park slated for completion before Thanksgiving of this year.

Franklin College Athletic Training Education Program Wins 2010 Bill Cramer Professional Development Award

The Franklin College Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) was recently awarded the 2010 Bill Cramer Professional Development Award. Presented by Cramer Products, Inc., this national award honors the memory of an athletic training legend, Bill Cramer, recognizes ATEP excellence and serves to further the professional development of students within the ATEP.

Franklin College Receives Grant to Support Student Service Members and Veterans

Franklin College was recently awarded a $12,000 grant from Operation Diploma, an initiative of the Military Family Research Institute (MFRI) at Purdue University. The grant will help with outreach to and support for the college's student veterans, service members and their families.

Diana Hadley, executive director of the Indiana High School Press Association (IHSPA) and lecturer of journalism at Franklin College, was recently recognized by the Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA) with the 2010 Phillip Carey Award for Human Relations.

Franklin College Pulliam School Of Journalism Receives $20,000 Grant From Ball Brothers Foundation

The Franklin College Pulliam School of Journalism (PSJ) was recently selected as a winner of the 2010 Ball Brothers Foundation Venture Fund competition, a competitive grant established by the Ball Brothers Foundation (Muncie, Indiana) and administered by the Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI). The $20,000 award will help the college establish the Indianapolis News Bureau near the Indiana Statehouse.

PNC Provides Franklin College With Grant To Assist Students With Personal Finance Management

Franklin College was recently awarded a $3,500 grant from PNC Bank to begin a financial literacy program for its students. The program will be led by Shaun Mahoney, director of student financial services at Franklin College.
